EXPERIENCE
Dan Sullivan is a native Oklahoman having been born and Tulsa and graduated from Wagoner High School. He attended Northeastern State University where he obtained a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Dan remains involved with NSU and is a member of and immediate past chair of the NSU Foundation Board of Trustees. He established an academic scholarship at NSU in 1997, to help students realize their dream of going to college and earning a degree.
Representative Sullivan earned his Juris Doctorate from University of Tulsa College of Law in 1988. He continues to practice law as an Of Counsel attorney with the Pierce, Couch, Hendrickson, Baysinger and Green, LLP firm in its Tulsa office. His primary area of practice has been representing physicians in medical malpractice cases as well as other professionals.
Representative Sullivan was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2004 to represent House District 71 of Tulsa. During his first term in the legislature, House Speaker Todd Hiett selected Dan to serve as the Majority Floor Leader. This was a historic selection for a freshman legislator. Dan was re-elected by the people of District 71 in 2006.
During his second term in office, Representative Sullivan serves as an Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Chair of the Civil Justice subcommittee and a member of the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, Education Committee and Environment and Wildlife subcommittee.
Representative Sullivan has been active at the Capitol driving legislation dealing with lawsuit reform, public safety and Tulsa’s water supply. Dan has authored an impressive 12 House Bills that have been signed into law. He also House authored 28 Senate bills, which are now law in Oklahoma.
Representative Sullivan is focused on providing hardworking Oklahoma families with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed today. From his work to help stimulate the economy by supporting pro business legislation and helping small businesses grow, to his efforts to enhance our greatest natural resourse, the Arkansas River, Representative Sullivan’s proven conservative leadership is making a difference for the people of District 71. Representative Sullivan continues to break through the partisan gridlock that sometimes challenges progress at the Capital and shows that real leadership still means something in Oklahoma.
